This serum is chock-full of anti-aging oils and herbs and is suitable for normal, combination, dry, sensitive, and mature skin. Although the oil infusion process is lengthy, it makes the serum so much more beneficial!
Rosehip seed oil is high in vitamins C and A and essential fatty acids, making it great for anti-aging. Jojoba oil, vitamin E oil, and green tea are all full of skin-regenerating antioxidants. Olive, argan, geranium, ylang ylang, and carrot seed are all great anti-aging oils as well. Vegetable glycerin is a humectant, drawing moisture to the skin, while calendula and rose all help skin inflammation. Frankincense helps tighten skin and lavender is great for overall skin health. Neroli oil is especially beneficial for mature skin and cell-regeneration.
5 T grapeseed oil (or olive oil for very dry skin)
1 T rosehip seed oil
1 T jojoba oil
1 tsp vegetable glycerin
1 tsp aloe vera gel
Optional: 2 tsp argan oil
1/2 tsp vitamin E oil
5 drops rose essential oil (you can also use a rose-jojoba oil blend like this)
5 drops frankincense essential oil
5 drops lavender essential oil
5 drops carrot seed essential oil (this is different than simply carrot seed oil)
5 drops geranium essential oil
3 drops ylang ylang essential oil
3 drops neroli essential oil (you can also use a neroli-jojoba blend like this)
Optional: 3 drops helichrysum essential oil
2 tsp dried calendula
1 tsp dried green tea
1 tsp dried rose petals
1 tsp dried lavender
1 tsp dried rose hips
Optional: 1 tsp dried comfrey root
Dark glass bottle with dropper
The first step is to infuse your grapeseed or olive oil with your dried herbs. Measure herbs into a sterilized Pyrex measuring cup and cover with your chosen oil. Create a double boiler by placing the measuring cup in a small pot with water higher than the level of the oil. Gradually heat over a burner on low (this is important; you don’t want the herbs to burn!). Let infuse for 4-6 hours.
Once fully infused, strain the oil through a cheesecloth or coffee filter. Squeeze to get as much oil out as possible. Thoroughly mix with all other ingredients and pour into a dark glass dropper bottle. Use nightly after cleansing and toning, gently tapping into skin on face, neck, and décolleté. Follow with moisturizer. Makes approximately 3 oz of serum (not including optional additions).
I’m going to try this. Thanks for sharing!
